On January 12, 1777, Hugh Mercer dies from wounds received in the Battle of Princeton, on January 3, 1777.
Hugh Mercer was a soldier and physician who originally served with British forces. He later became a Brigadier General in the Continental Army and was a close friend of George Washington.
