On November 10, 1775, the Second Continental Congress passed a resolution that two battalions of Marines be raised for service as landing forces with the fleet. This resolution established the Continental Marines and marked the birth date of the United States Marine Corps.

On November 9, 1938, SA Paramilitary forces and non-Jewish civilians carried out coordinated attacks on Jews throughout Nazi Germany. The number of Jews murdered during the attacks vary greatly but it’s reported that over 30,000 were arrested and incarcerated in Nazi concentration camps. The attacks later known as Kristallnacht (Night of Broken Glass) ended on November 10, 1938.
On November 6, 1863, the Battle of Droop Mountain, West Virginia, was one of the largest engagements in West Virginia during the civil war. Confederate forces engaged, but failed to prevent Union forces under Brigadier General William W. Averell from a rendezvous with other Federal troops in a joint raid on Confederate railways. As a result of the Union victory, Confederate resistance in the state essentially collapsed.
